“He who smiles instead of getting angry is always stronger.”
According to a Japanese proverb, smiling instead of getting angry in the face of stress or a fault is a clear sign of strength.
Japanese wisdom has governed the life and daily conduct of this society for millennia. Unlike Westerners, Orientals actually live their proverbs in their own flesh and use them as a method of indoctrinating their life and character.
For the Japanese, demonstrations of anger in public are frowned upon, in fact a person can be ignored if they show that they do not know how to control their emotions. This is because lack of control, anger or sensitivity are clear signs of weakness for them.
The power of a well-forged character
Often the mistake is made of saying that a person ‘has a lot of character’ because he raises his voice and seeks to impose himself by force. There are those who believe that anger-prone people have a lot of character and they couldn’t be more wrong. This is called bad character.
Character, on the other hand, is having self-control, controlling emotions and being understanding in every context. That is why a person with character does not get angry easily, before reacting he thinks, analyzes the situation taking distance and only then responds. It is a wisdom that we should all practice because it is highly beneficial to our health and our relationships.
When you care about managing your emotions and reacting well, you can win many wars without having to start the first battle. Because whoever dominates himself, can dominate any opponent without even realizing it.
Neither arguments nor anger should be part of our daily lives, because if they are recurrent they can poison us inside until we are sick. We need to seek peace first and foremost, so breathing, understanding and smiling instead of starting a fight is a hundred times better.
Only a person with enough strength can avoid anger and use this emotion only when necessary. It is not that we should demonize anger and suppress it, it is an emotion that exists for a reason and we should experience it when necessary. However, many people get angry about everything, spend much of their lives in bitterness without realizing that they are wasting many moments to be happy or at peace.
Excessive anger intoxicates the body and mind, makes us vulnerable and weak. We must work on understanding the problems from different points of view, develop empathy and try to be calm, so that instead of responding with anger, we respond with a smile.
The angry cries never opened doors or gave anyone opportunities, self-control and a smile did. Do not cling to feel angry, because life is very short and it is quite sad to spend so much time angry about things that sometimes we can not even control.
