“Happy people don’t bother about other people’s happiness.”
Have you ever seen a happy person caring about the happiness of others? Surely not, and this happens because those who know closely and live full happiness, are self-centered, humble with others and have no time to deal with envy and selfishness.
Father Fabio de Melo is a 48 year old man born in Formiga, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He is a Catholic priest but also an artist, writer and university professor. Since he accepted his call to serve God, Father Fabio de Melo has dedicated himself to give his faithful a message full of peace and much wisdom so they can follow the path of good and live in harmony.
In his many programs, writings and masses that he has offered, Fabio de Melo has sought to encourage the path of non-jealousy, non-selfishness, and of course of living in peace and happiness with ourselves. Implicitly this priest instructs that the best way to be happy and well with others is to avoid letting ourselves be affected by the happiness of others.
As Jesus Christ said more than two thousand years ago, we must learn to stop seeing the mote in our brother’s eye and look at the beam in our own eye. A practice that has proved quite difficult since we love gossip and being involved in other people’s problems. Although many times we take things to another level and end up consuming ourselves in the sending by seeing the happiness in others.
Ideally, you can understand what happiness is all about. It doesn’t come from anywhere or anything or anyone. Happiness lies within you, and when you focus on the happiness of others you are only envying and coveting, serious sins that can lead you to commit other, more serious sins such as wishing that that other person who is happy, would suffer.
If instead of looking at what the people around us have, we focused on enjoying what we have, we would be calmer people and could use that time to seek our own happiness.
Father Fabio de Melo shared this phrase “Happy people do not bother about the happiness of others” and certainly shows a great reality and that is that the person when he is at peace with himself is happier.
If you feel any kind of discomfort right now, such as envy or anger about what someone has or what someone is going through, it is important to check yourself because you may have lost your peace. Examine yourself and find your way, because true happiness will never lead you to covet what is not yours.
