Benefits of speaking your mind
We often hold back from speaking our mind and expressing our opinion to avoid controversy or to upset the other. But maybe if you read the benefits of speaking your mind, you will be encouraged to express yourself.
Benefits of speaking your mind
People value your sincerity
Sincerity is highly valued among friends, otherwise we can fall into hypocrisy. People who say what they think from respect are always a source of transparency and sincerity for their friends and therefore of trust. Their actions correspond to their words, since they do not say anything to please others but limit themselves to expressing what they consider to be correct.
You learn to say things
When you hold back, you don’t learn how to say things, so when the time comes you cry, you scream, you get angry and finally you don’t know how to make your point. But when you speak from your inner self, that constant exercise teaches you to say things with the right tone of voice, assertively and politely. That way, your message is even heard with receptive ears.
You address each problem in turn
People who say what they think do not carry the burden of how they should have behaved or how they should have solved a problem. They express themselves and seek the resolution of the problem or close the cycle. They do not hold grudges, they do not accumulate sadness and therefore, they get sick less.
You’re not afraid to give an opinion
Many people abandon their ideals or even stop expressing their emotions because they are afraid of giving their opinion and not pleasing others. When you live to please others you really lose valuable time from your life that you should invest in being yourself and feel happy about it. Happy people are not afraid to give their opinion from respect and empathy. You have the right to express your opinion, no one should silence your voice because even though we think differently, those differences are what make room for everyone in this world. So give your opinion, even if others do not like, because you have that freedom that only you can take away.
You feel liberated
It’s very sad to be locked into your own thoughts because you can’t say how you feel about something. Saying what you think can be liberating, if you’re afraid to express yourself and push people away, just be aware that if they push you away after you’ve revealed yourself, they weren’t genuinely with you. It’s better to be free, to be who you are, and to have the people who are happy with that by your side. It does not mean that you will not have opposition, because as we said, in this world we all fit, so also respect people who do not support you or think differently from you.
The plural and heterogeneous world is a better place because “every head is a world”, so it is valuable to learn to express ourselves and at the same time respect the opinions of others.
