Silence and rest: two needs of the mind
Today, sleeping has become a luxury, or so they are making us see, and in the system in which we live today we have no time to rest, we can not even enjoy a while in silence, because among so many occupations and excessive noise around us, it is almost impossible to have a good mental rest.
More silence and rest
If you wake up one morning wishing you didn’t work, everyone will look at you badly, say you’re a lazy bum who doesn’t want to succeed. But the truth is, it doesn’t have to be that way. Many times we just want to get out of that routine that ends up being very exhausting. But it is exhausting not because you do thousands of things, it is enough that it is only one activity that is repeated day after day so that we feel like throwing the work out the window.
However, we get up and do it again and again, hoping that the next day will be better, hoping that the remuneration we receive will be sufficient, hoping that all this will somehow continue to maintain the meaning of life.
But what often ends up happening is that we get more and more activity which takes us to reduce our sleeping hours further. In fact, the same concerns lead us to cut valuable time to rest, we can not stop thinking about so many things that the time we could use to recharge, we end up investing in stress.
The consequences of stress
So what are the consequences of all this? Certainly, death. Don’t be frightened, because it’s pure reality, maybe you don’t know but every year thousands of people all over the world commit suicide because of overwork, or because of the same routine of life they lead. You may consider this a weakness but you have to be in these people’s shoes.
Imagine for a second in Japan, this country that demands a lot from you at work, how would you master the stress of a place that demands more and more competitiveness in order to keep your job? At first you can do it, but as the years go by you get exhausted and one day when your spirits are low you end up jumping from the top floor of the company you work for.
What to do?
Simple, introduce more naps and more hours of sleep into your routine. You have a responsibility to yourself, you must respect your body, only it knows what you need. Do not become a slave to your work, if you can miss a day because you feel you need to recharge energy just do it. But if you can’t, then just manage your time better, find ways to sleep a little longer but above all, find places where you can be alone with your thoughts.
Silence is sometimes very important for your brain but in this fast-paced world, noise is the only thing that dominates. Find a quiet place and stay there at least 40 minutes a day, your brain will thank you.
