Do not please the ungrateful, nor serve the lazy
Have you ever thought that you’ve most likely spent your life doing the right thing with the wrong people? And don’t get us wrong, doing the right thing is always good, but many times, people are not grateful enough with what we do for them. That’s why maybe it’s time to put aside the ungrateful and focus our energies on those who bring something positive into our lives.
Stop serving the lazy and ungrateful!
Laziness exists, and is considered by the Catholic Church to be one of the seven deadly sins, so it must be a very serious matter. If you read this it is because you do not belong to that group of people so you can not understand for sure what moves their lives. Lazy people are usually lazy about everything. They are messy, unpunctual, misunderstood, but among so many things, they often want to be clever with others. How? Simply by having others do their dirty work for them.
Helping them is not good at all, or at least it does not do them any good, on the contrary, we just accustom them to always have something important to do, just give this task to someone else and it works. In short, we make their situation worse.
But how do these people reward us? Usually badly. For some reason, instead of appreciating us more, they behave more ungratefully and even get angry if we say we cannot help them at a certain time. However, we cannot stop and we continue to serve them, why? Because it is something that is born to us, we are like that, we like to help, we are active, kind, friendly people, we like to reach out to the weak, but we do all this without thinking that maybe we are the ones who act like the weak.
The ungrateful and the lazy (which are almost always the same thing) have a very strong capacity to manipulate us and make us feel guilty for not helping them. This is not something that strengthens our character in any way. It is possible that even that person we call “best friend” or “best friend” is only using us for their own benefit. And while it’s true that everyone in this world is driven by some kind of interest, these people may be overreaching.
What to do?
Our advice to you is that if you are reading this, you have most likely detailed a couple of people close to you who are behaving in a way that is not appropriate. Therefore, it’s time to start evaluating your relationship with this or these people more closely.
If you determine that these people are taking advantage of you, start removing them from your life. Yes, we know that this can be a very extreme decision, but these kinds of people are the ones who react very badly if you are honest with them and tell them what is happening to you. Therefore, advising you to confront them will only leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Instead, it seeks to keep away those lazy, ungrateful people who have no other interest than to keep wearing you out and taking advantage of you.
