Discover the four gifts of Highly Sensitive People (HSP)
Have you ever felt that you see things differently than others, wondering why you suffer more than others? Or why do you feel better alone?
Being more sensitive than other people can make you think that you are at a disadvantage, your mind only leads to fear and insecurity in showing you as you are. Well, if you are part of the 20% of the population that recognizes itself as highly sensitive, let us tell you that it is not a disadvantage and you cannot even consider yourself as a “different” being. It is very possible that throughout your life, and especially during your childhood, you have been aware of this emotional difference, and that is why you have taken refuge in solitude.
High sensitivity is not a disease, this condition is considered a gift, a tool that allows you to deepen and feel empathy with everything around you. Very few people have this ability to learn to perceive life from the inside.
Elaine N. Aron, at the beginning of the 90’s dedicated herself to researching introverted people, with the results she obtained she explained in detail the characteristics that reflected a social reality: highly sensitive people are reflexive, empathetic and emotionally reactive.
Dr. Aron published in her book, The Highly Sensitive Person, the importance of knowing that this extreme sensitivity is not a reason to feel strange or different. On the contrary, you should feel happy to be a highly sensitive person, because you possess four incredible gifts with which you can evolve in mind, body and soul.
The four gifts of highly sensitive people
The inner knowledge:
Highly sensitive children can be confused by a dense mix of feelings: anguish, contradiction and great curiosity. Their eyes will capture aspects of their daily lives that adults do not even notice. They need to be guided and taught that knowledge of one’s own and others’ emotions is a powerful weapon.
They will also know from an early age that life can be difficult when others are unaware of their sensory abilities. In time, they will learn to understand people better and feel less vulnerable to pain.
Obviously, comments such as “you take everything very seriously” or “you’re very sensitive” are not welcome. Accept who you are and embrace the gift that life has given you, you have the ability to use it to help others.
Enjoy the solitude
PAS are not afraid of loneliness. In general, they are creative people who like art, music, reading and other hobbies. This does not mean that they do not appreciate the company of others, but that they are also happy to be alone. In fact, in the moments alone they manage to connect with themselves, with their thoughts, they feel free from attachments and curious glances.
Living with the heart
Highly sensitive people can see beauty in every little detail. They show their feelings and live love intensely. This condition can cause depression, sadness, and vulnerability due to the behavior of people, whether it be a partner, friend, or even family member. Everything, however miniscule it may seem, is experienced with great passion by highly sensitive people.
Inner growth
High sensitivity is not a disease, therefore it cannot be cured. The person is born with this characteristic and this gift manifests itself from childhood. They are characterized by their great intuition, emotional vulnerability and susceptibility to strong lights, smells and sounds.
It’s not easy to live with this gift. However, if you recognize that you are highly sensitive, you have the possibility of developing an inner growth with more advantages, unlike those who are not able to recognize their emotions so easily. Get to know yourself and discover what your abilities are; work on your balance and promote your personal growth. You are unique and if you live from the heart it will be easier to find peace and happiness.
