Steps to an emotional detox
Our life is full of emotions, we must experience them and learn from them. However, when we are subjected to highly frustrating situations or disappointments, we become trapped in negative emotions and do not know how to move on to the next chapter.
On the other hand, there are people who are experiencing emotions they don’t understand. In those cases, you have to stop, breathe and understand what is happening. But in any of the scenarios, it is important to maintain a balanced and healthy diet, as it directly affects the emotions.
If you feel completely frustrated, upset and out of it, take a look at these 6 steps to achieve emotional detox.
Learning to say NO without guilt
The “no” exists for a reason and that is that you have the alternative to refuse anything and it doesn’t have to be bad. As humans, we cannot live to please everyone, for those who have tried, at the end of their lives, only regret it. So do not waste your life in pleasing others, say no without feeling guilty.
Understand that thoughts are only thoughts
You probably have thoughts that you’re not very proud of and you blame yourself for them. Understanding that thoughts are just thoughts helps us feel less guilty. That is, they are just a product of our mind and do not exist in the real world.
Accept yourself as you are
As a human you have skills and weaknesses, strengths and weaknesses. It’s okay to want to be the best version of ourselves, but to do that we must first accept who we are. No matter how much you idealise other people or how miserable you want to feel about yourself, if you observe for a moment and keep silent, you will notice that everyone has faults, only some have learned to accept you and are working on themselves.
Have a healthy social life
Open up to those people who fill you with energy and affection and push away those who exhaust you mentally and do not seek your good. When you create healthy bonds you feed back, you are filled with light every day and you learn how to love and be loved. The best thing for mental health is to take the time to cultivate genuine relationships.
Learn to manage stress
Stress in its own right is good because it gives you a push to get things done, but when it becomes a tyrant that whips your neck, shoulders and back and gives you terrible headaches it is not good at all. Solve what you can in the present, and so you can’t control or manage, don’t stress, let it go or wait for the moment.
Understand that your life is now
Live fully today, because tomorrow will bring its own challenges. Do not give too much space to anxiety or frustration, live each emotion in its time and you will see how everything that happens to you is channeled.
Things are going to be fine as long as you’re fine, so if you feel like you’re going a thousand miles an hour and you’re not in control of your emotions, take the time and follow these steps.
