To applaud a child’s achievements is to motivate him to grow!
Applauding a child’s achievements is motivating him to grow
Children are constantly growing; this process is made up of a physical and an emotional part. Although it seems like they are two different things, they do not, both go hand in hand. Every achievement that children make is a significant discovery for them and should be for their parents as well.
The events in their lives directly influence their perception of everything around them, even determining how they see themselves. You may see your child’s achievements as unimportant, for example: it’s not that much to you that your child has learned to tie her own shoes, but you think that for her or him it was a new experience in which he or she struggled to get results.
To develop children’s emotional intelligence and strengthen their character in decision making, whether in positive or negative circumstances, it is necessary for you as a parent to understand the importance of celebrating your children’s small and large accomplishments. Encourage them every time they play a sport or do their homework, because they are having certain experiences for the first time.
Recognizing your children’s successes will reflect on their self-esteem, they will be happy, confident and know how to handle recognition.
How does recognition help children’s growth?
If we explain it this way it will be easier: You go to your job, you try your best and you receive a warm congratulation from your boss for your good work, don’t you feel immediately more motivated to work? Do you feel happy?
Same thing that happens with your little ones. The recognition from their parents, through a praise, a congratulation, an applause or a hug, will make them feel motivated to keep trying to discover new things. It is healthy and important to let our children know that we are happy with every achievement, this way we will be guiding them on the right path.
Applause encourages your children’s growth
Parents are responsible for the correct evolution of their children. In addition to applauding their efforts, it is important to instill in them values such as respect for success as a result of hard work.
It is essential to teach them values that will endure over time and to guide them along the path of compassion and humility. But for every parent to succeed in raising their children, they must not neglect their own work, that is, they must practice what they wish to teach their children.
Work first on yourself, forgive, respect, share, smile, strive, control your emotions, persevere, be patient, increase your joys by surrounding yourself with those you love, help selflessly and offer your best to be an example for your children to follow. Make them feel loved, valuable and safe in every new experience to live.
Remember that your applause, compliments and congratulations mean a lot to them, giving them confidence to face life with courage. If you want happy and successful children, encourage them with love!
